When A Woman Lets Go of the Lies Book Review

When a Woman Lets Go of the...

When A Woman Lets Go of the Lies is written by Cheryl Brodersen.

This is a powerful book and a must read for all women!  Do you find yourself thinking negative thoughts like you are not worthy or that someone else has it better?  Then this book is perfect for you and a must read right now.  You will learn how to change your thoughts to more positive and truthful words.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I cannot say enough about this book and what a positive effect it will have on your thought life.  The writer, Cheryl Brodersen, is practical, thoughtful and easy to understand.  Her style of writing is informative without being preachy.  Each page of this book has helpful advice on how to make your life more positive.  Your thought life has a lot to do with how you live your life and this book gives numerous way to make that thought life more in line with the Bible.

What is God Like Study Review

What is God Like is another book in the Stonecroft Ministries Series.

I have worked through a few of these studies from Stonecroft Ministries.  Each one is unique in topic but the same in format.  You can learn from each one and I recommend them all to anyone needing an easy to follow study of a Biblical topic.

This particular book is about God.  Have you ever had any questions about God and how to communicate with Him?  What about how much He loves you?  This study is perfect for anyone interested in learning more about God and how He relates to each one of us.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I like all the studies by Stonecroft and think this one is just as well written as the others.  I do wish there were more explanations along with the questions.  Sometimes you need some guidance to go along with the many questions asked as not everyone does these studies in a group setting.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Under the Summer Sky Book Review

Under the Summer Sky
Under the Summer Sky is written by Lori Copeland.

This book is the second book in the Dakota Diaries Series but you do not have to read the others to enjoy this one.  You will be hooked on this book from the first pages.  There is action as well as romance.  I liked how the main couple in the story actually builds a relationship instead of just all the sudden seeing each other and being in love.

The two main characters are Trinity and Jones.  Their first meeting sets off a course of events that will keep you interested in their story.  I liked how during one of their travels they sit and talk about their pasts and find out how similar they are.  Their connection can be felt and that makes for a very good story.
I gave this book 5/5 star.  I thought the characters developed well and were interesting.  I thought the story itself was interesting enough to be enjoyable.  If you are looking for a book to escape into this one will work just fine!

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Success Secrets of the Bible Book Review

Success Secrets of the Bibl...
Success Secrets of the Bible is written by James Edmund Haggai.

What a fact filled and easy to understand book!  This is a perfect book for all Christians to read.  It does not matter if you are a new Christian or a seasoned one you will learn what the Bible has to say about success and how to apply those principles to your life.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the format of the book.  The chapter titles really grab your attention.  One title says the world’s view is to not mess up while the Bible’s view is to not waste a mistake.  The comparisons really help you see how different the worlds view is from the Bible’s view.  The examples used from the Bible were perfectly placed.  I liked at the end of the book where the author lists the secrets and ways to apply them to your life.  This is a great book and I recommend it to anyone who want to learn about what true success should mean to a Christian.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Strong and Stubborn Book Review

Strong and Stubborn (ebook)

Strong and Stubborn is written by Kelly Eileen Hake.

This is book three in the Husbands For Hire Series.  You do not have to read the others to enjoy this one but it does help.  The other titles in the series are Rugged and Relentless and Tall, Dark and Determined.

My favorite part of this book was the list of characters in the front.  Without that list I would have been lost.  I had to refer to the list a few times to keep the story straight. There are a lot of characters in all her books in this series so be sure to pay attention to who is talking to whom!

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the story line and thought the author wrote a compelling story.  I did however find parts of the story boring.  It may just be me however so please read the story for yourself as you may enjoy the long descriptions and tedious dialog.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Leading The Way Through Ephesians Study Review

Leading the Way Through Eph...

Leading the Way Through Ephesians is written by Michael Yuossef.

These studies are well worth your time.  This is just one of many but starting with this one is a great idea.  The study starts with a brief history of the book of Ephesians which includes who wrote the book and to whom.

The author Michael Youssef is a great speaker and his personality shines in this study book.  From understanding what it means to have a special relationship with Christ to how many times the word grace appears in Ephesians you will learn a lot about how important this book of the Bible is to your Christian growth.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the writing was well done but it was missing some of the depth that most books by this author have.  I like how he divided up the book and explained the verses in an overall way not just verse by verse.  I do think it is a good study of the book of Ephesians.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Leading The Way Through Daniel Study Review

 Leading the Way Through Daniel

Leading the Way Through Daniel is written by Michael Yuossef.

These studies by Michael Youssef are well worth your time in reading.  The pages are filled with helpful information about the book of the Bible he is writing the study on.  This study is on the book of Daniel.

This book of the Bible can get rather complicated in the last few chapters.  The author does a very good job at making those chapters easy to understand.  He also offers some practical advice from the book that make it a must read for any Christian, especially those interested in prophecy.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I loved how the author made this book of the Bible practical for any Christian to learn from.  He applies lessons from Daniels life to our life today in a very informative way.  I thought the writing was very easy to read and understand.  I also thought the book would do great for a Sunday School class or Bible study that wants to learn some practical advice from the book of Daniel.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Heaven Here and Now

Heaven--Here and Now: True Stories of God's Kingdom Here on Earth

This book is exactly what its sub-title implies when it states True Stories of God’s Kingdom Here On Earth.  This is not a book to read to learn about heaven and what is there or what we will be doing there.  This book is, however, a book of incidents in peoples’ lives that reflect the true spirit of Christianity.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked how many examples there were in this book.  It thought the author did very well at expressing the many different ways the Lords’ love is displayed every day by ordinary people.  I only gave it a lower rating because I thought it could have been better organized. I did enjoy the stories and thought it was an uplifting book.  This would be a good book to give to someone who needs encouragement.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

The Bartered Bride Collection Book Review

The Bartered Bride Romance Collection: 9 Historical Stories of Arranged Marriages (ebook)

The Bartered Bride Collection is written by multiple authors.

This is a great collection of 9 stories.  Each story can be read on its own and all are about brides and weddings.  I liked that these were all put into one book; it makes for a great gift book.

I will not go into the details of all the stories as you can read the summary for that.  I will say however that each story is worth reading.  The characters and stories kept my attention.  I thought each author wrote well and kept their story moving with interesting dialog and fun characters.

I gave this collection 5/5 stars.  I enjoyed each story and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction.  I especially liked that although this book has the 9 stories they still kept the print normal size and therefore it is easy to read.  I highly recommend this book!

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of 8 Important Money Decisions

8 Important Money Decisions for Every Couple: *Discover Financial Harmony *Communicate Through Your Differences *Build a Stronger Relationship

8 Important Money Decisions for Every Couple is written by Russ Crosson.

This is a great book for all married couples, whether newlyweds or those married 50 years.  If you are in a relationship where you do not talk about money you must read this book. You will learn how to get the discussion started and what to talk about.  Who pays the bills and why do they?  Is what you want to buy worth spending the money on?

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I enjoyed each chapter and thought the book was well written and easy to understand.  I liked the chapter from the wife at the end of the book.  I thought her perspective was very helpful.  This chapter was also written in very easy to understand language. This book does not come across preachy but rather has a very informative and helpful design.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Nowhere to Run

Nowhere To Run is written by Amy Wallace.

What a suspenseful story!  You will love the intrigue in this story and how quickly the story moves from one scene to the next.  Ashley Walters is a police officer and finds herself being followed.  Fearing for her safety she has to leave her day to day life and hide.  She chooses a Mennonite community thinking she will be perfectly safe.  Will she be safe or will danger follow!

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the story and thought it did great at being an adventure novel.  I did not think it did very well at keeping me interested.  The dialogue was hard to get through at times and that made me want to skip parts.  I did make it through the whole book but wish it had been better written.  I recommend this book for anyone who likes suspenseful stories, Amish fiction or just wants an adventure book to escape into.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Spirit Hunger

Spirit Hunger is written by Gari Meacham.

The author’s personality shines in this very personal book written by Gari Meacham.  Learning how to draw closer to the Lord by reading about another persons journey is what this book is all about.  The subtitle to the book is Our Deep Longing To Connect With God.

I enjoyed the examples of other Christian’s and their journey to a closer relationship with the Lord.  I thought the author did an excellent job using personal illustrations to expound on her topics.  She used scripture to perfection.  Not over use but only when it will help make her point about the topic.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  The information given was informative and helpful.  The personal stories were meaningful and some were even filled with humor.  I wish there had been more on finding your purpose as a Christian rather then so much on what Christians long for.  Overall it was a good book that I would recommend to a friend.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Mesquite

Mesquite is written by Camilla Hunt Cole and is published by Tate Publishing.

When starting this book you will not know if it is a fictional story or supposed to be a retelling of someone’s life.  It can be confusing but the story grabs you right away and you will want to keep reading till the end.  The style of writing in this book is first person, like the author is telling you the story.  I thought it was well written and flowed well from one story to the next.

I gave this book 4/5 stars for a couple reasons.  The biggest is the confusion of whether the story is real or not.  With the placement of pictures it presents itself as biographical yet is in the fictional section.  I say be one kind of book or the other, don’t be so confusing.  I also thought some of the stories did not need to be there, meaning they really did not add to the whole of the book.  If you are looking for a fun book about a family and some interesting incidents in their life, this is a perfect book for you.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

The Next Step Book Review

The Next Step is written by Millicent Arlene Smith and is published by Dorrance Publishing Company.

There is a wealth of helpful tidbits in this book.  From understanding why you were given the parents you were given to learning that only you can make yourself happy not those around you, each page has helpful information as you take steps to a more productive life.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked how the book was presented.  There would be a highlighted section about the authors’ personal life or a verse from Scripture and then an explanation following that.  The explanations were usually advice from the author about the point she was trying to make.  I did have a few negatives about the book.  I thought the lettering was small and wish there had been more space between her sections.  Overall the advice is what makes this book worth reading.  I thought it was very simple and easy to understand with no harsh judgement just thoughtful advice!

Secrets of Intercessory Prayer Book Review

The Secrets of Intercessory Prayer is written by Jack Hayford and published by Chosen.

The subtitle is Unleashing God’s Power in the Lives of Those You Love.  This book is about prayer and the many different times it is mentioned and used in the Bible with an emphasis on praying for others.  I liked the concept of this book, ways we can pray for those around us during certain circumstances.  Using examples from his personal life and the Bible, the author shows that no matter the situation you are going through you can find a way to pray for the other person.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the Biblical examples and thought they were well placed and explained.  I also liked all the Biblical references presented to the reader.  I took the time to look most of them up and found they aptly applied to the principle being discussed.  Although there were great examples of ways to pray I gave this book a lower rating because I felt it did not flow from chapter to chapter.  I would describe it as different essays all put together to make a book.  There was not as much cohesiveness as I thought should be there.  However, if you are looking for a book that highlights ways to pray for others this is a good book to read.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

At Every Turn Book Review

At Every Turn is written by Anne Mateer and is published by Bethany House.

I loved this book and thought the story line was refreshing and it makes this book a must read.  Alyce is a great driver and she is about to experience a once in a life time event.  Will she do well in a race meant for men?  Will she win the heart of her intriguing mechanic Webster?

I liked how this story was set in the early 1900’s.  It helped make this story believable and a fun read.  The main character, Alyce, is full of life and written very well.  The story is told in the first person and that really helps you get a better understanding of Alyce and why she pursues driving.  The other main character, Webster, is more mysteries and that lends to the story line flowing very quickly.  You can not wait to see how these two get together!

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought it was a great story to escape into.  I thought the characters were well developed and easy to enjoy.  I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a fast paced story with a touch of romance.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

All Things New Book Review

All Things New is written by Lynn Austin and published by Bethany House.

This author reminds me of Eugenia Price and her many books about the South.  This particular book takes place after the Civil War has ended and the main character, Josephine returns to her home in Virginia.  This story is very long and detailed but still worth spending your time reading.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  There was so much detail and description in the story that I was really able to picture what the characters were seeing and the circumstances they were dealing with.  I loved the conversations in the book and thought they flowed well and were expertly written.  Most of the time I read a longer book I say I wish some of the extra story lines had been taken out, but not this time!  I think each page deserves to be there and the story would not be the same had the author skimped on detail or dialogue.  I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a moving story with developing characters.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

How to Deal with Difficult Relationships Book Review

How to Deal with Difficult Relationships: Bridging the Gaps That Separate People -
        By: June Hunt

How To Deal With Difficult Relationships is written by June Hunt.

The subtitle to the book is Bridging the Gaps That Separate People.  I think everyone can learn some great tips on how to deal with those people in our lives that are difficult.

This book is not just an advice book but more of a guide book for those helping others deal with difficult people.  That said anyone can read this book, just realize some of the pages are a bit detailed.  The great advice on how to handle those you don’t get along with in your day to day life is there.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the advice was helpful and plentiful.  I gave this book the lower rating because I thought some of the book was just too detailed.  I think this book could have been made a little more simple to understand and therefore more helpful to everyone.  If you are dealing with a difficult person every day pick this book up and you will get some great advice on how to handle the situations you are put in.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Bible Study on Prayer

Connecting with God: A Guide To Prayer

This study book is called Connecting With God, A Guide To Prayer.

This is another great study book that is part of the Stonecroft Ministries Basic Bible Studies. If you have not done any of their other studies this is a great one to start with.  The questions you look up are helpful and lead you to a better understanding of the subject of prayer.  There are ample references and plenty of space to fill in your answers.  I usually have a notebook on the side as there is not much space to write you r answers but this book had enough space between questions that I did not need to do that.

I gave this study a 5/5 stars.  I thought it had great references, good questions, and was very simple to work through.  If you are looking for a study on prayer and need one that is not very long this is the perfect study for you.  If you are looking for a more in-depth study on the subject of prayer this study would be a good starting point.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

The Marriage of Your Dreams

The Marriage of Your Dreams: A Woman's Guide to Understanding Her Man
The Marriage of Your Dreams is written by Rick Johnson.

This book is very helpful and although written by a man is definitely a perfect book for all married women to read.

This book has lots of helpful tips on how the woman can help her marriage.  There are many books about marriage to read but this book is especially helpful for the wife who wants to make her husband feel like the most important person in her life.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I think it is a helpful book to any woman who wants to understand her husband a little better.  It would be a good book to give to a newly married or recently engaged woman.  You may not agree with all that the author says but you have to give him credit for backing up what he says.  I thought he applied scripture and examples very well to get his point across.  Overall it is a helpful book and worth spending your time reading.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

I Declare by Joel Osteen Book Review

I Declare by Joel Osteen

I Declare is written by Joel Osteen.

This book is a very simple book with some simple saying to say when you are having a bad day.  It is divided into 31 sections.

Overall this book was good.  I did like the uplifting feel of the book.  If you are feeling discouraged or sluggish in your day to day life, this book will be a great help to you.  I have read most of Joel Osteen’s books and this book is just as good as the others.  If you have not read any of his others this a great book to start with.  He is a preacher that likes to stay positive and this book reflects his style.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the words were all uplifting.  I will be keeping this book on my shelf for those days when I need an extra boost of encouragement from the Lord!  This would make a great book for anyone going through a difficult time.

Review of God Loves You

God Loves You: He Always Has--He Always Will
God Loves You is written by David Jeremiah.

Wow what a great book.  Feeling alone or not loved as much as you want?  You can learn so much from this book!

The author, David Jeremiah is a preacher in a church in California.  He does have a television program but this book proves that he is also a great author!  He writes in a very loving manner.  The book flows well and is easy to read and understand.  I liked the references and stories and thought they went perfect with the point he was trying to get across to the reader.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the concept of the book and thought it was well written.  You will put the book down with a better understanding of God’s love and how unconditional it really is!  Understanding God’s love will help you when you do feel alone or don’t feel loved by those close to you.  This is a must read for all Christians!

The Bridge, A Book Review

The Bridge: A Novel

The Bridge is written by Karen Kingsbury.

I liked this book so much I read it in one sitting!  I liked how the author brought the past and the present together in this short but powerful book.   This story reminds me of a Hallmark or Lifetime Christmas movie.  Two people going different directions in their lives all because of a misunderstanding.

This story takes place around the flooding that happened in Nashville.  There are actually four main characters and the story centers on their lives.  The title of the book leads you to believe this story is about an actual bridge but it is not.  The book takes place around a bookstore.  The owners, Charlie and Donna, of the store are dealing with issues of rebuilding their lives after the devastating flood destroyed the business they had built.  The long lost loves, Molly and Ryan, are at a point in their lives that meeting can only mean great changes to their current lives paths.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked what an easy read this was, how well the author did at keeping it interesting and the great ending!

Review of 21 Ways to Connect With Your Kids

21 Ways To Connect With Your Kids is written by Kathi Lipp.

This is a very helpful book for anyone who has children or even grandchildren of all ages.  The ideas are great and will be easy to work into your family’s lifestyle.

There are many helpful ideas on ways to make the connection with your kids more meaningful.  The author writes so anyone can understand her ideas and implement them.  The book is not very long and can easily be read in a short time.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the author did a great job at getting her ideas across.  She writes with a sense of humor and you will not feel judged!  I think by reading this book you will actually feel like you are doing just as well as everyone else!  Life is busy but this book will give you some simple ideas that are easy to take the time to do with your children.  I say this is a must read book!

Zero Visibility Book Review

Zero Visibility is written by Sharon Dunn.

What an action filled story!  This is a great suspense story with a touch of romance.  The author is an excellent writer and wrote this story to perfection!

This story finds the main characters dealing with issues during a snowstorm.  The suspense is well written and will have you on the edge of your seat.  The interaction of the characters is believable and easy to read.  The whole book flows well and is a fun read.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the suspense of the main characters meeting.  I liked how they helped each other out and thought the author did great at showing how this might happen when you don’t know the other person very well.  I liked how the story moved quickly and also came to an appropriate ending.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense novel with some clean romance thrown in!

Review of Trinity: Military War Dog

Trinity:  Military War Dog is written by Ronie Kendig.

This is a very entertaining book and each page will have you wanting to read more.  The main character, Heath, was injured while at war.  He is able to get back to work in an organization called A Breed Apart.  This organization uses both himself and his dog Trinity to help out where the military needs them.  This is not your typical romance book but there is some romance in it.  I thought the relationship of the main characters was believable.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked how there was action, romance and intrigue.  This book flowed well and was well written.   The main characters of Heath, Darci and of course Trinity the dog, are all enjoyable and easy to fall in love with.  The story itself is filled with action and is fun to read.  This book has a great story to escape into.  I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction and action books.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Book 2 of the Quilt Chronicles

The Shadow on the Quilt is written by Stephanie Grace Whitson.

This is book two in the Quilt Chronicles.  You do not have to read the first to enjoy this second book.  The characters and setting are enjoyable.  The book is well written and the story is believable. This author, Stephanie Grace Whitson, is an excellent writer.  You will enjoy any book she has written.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  The story held my attention and was entertaining.  The book finds the two main characters, Juliana and Cass, with issues that should keep them apart.  One not trusting and one with issues from the past.  How they interact is great to read.  I liked how the conversations flowed.  I also enjoyed the story line and how it read quickly.  I thought the main characters were well written and that every page was worth reading.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction with some clean romance thrown in.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

The Shadow on the Quilt, The Quilt Chronicles Series #2

Review of book by Kathryn Springer

The Promise of Home is written by Kathryn Springer.

Jenna is a city girl and finds herself in a country setting.  Stepping up to help her sister with her niece and nephew, she moves into their home to help take care of them.  While there she meets a handsome neighbor called Dev.  Dev has moved to the country to get away from the city.  How the two main characters interact is interesting but only part of this story.  The children in the story actually play an important part and help keep the story line moving.  Without the children and town people the story might have been a little boring.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the children in the book and thought they were portrayed well.  The main character, Jenna, was just not that likeable.  I did not think the writer wrote her well.  The other main character, Dev, was written pretty well but not really someone you could cheer for.  However, I like reading Love Inspired for the escape factor and thought it did well at giving me a story that entertained.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Wooing the Schoomarm

Wooing the Schoolmarm is written by Dorothy Clark.

The story line to the book is your typical one for a quick Christian romance. The new preacher is also a new father. He has been given his niece and nephew to take care of. The local schoolteacher seems to be right there to help when he most needs it. Their connection is undeniable. The children are written beautifully and they are an addition to the story not a hindrance.

I gave this book 4/5 stars. I did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I would but would still recommend it. Without the children in the story the relationship of the two main characters would not have been as enjoyable to watch grow. I did like how the relationship grew at a believable rate. I thought the author did well at describing the setting and times the story took place in. I enjoyed the book but don’t know that I would read it again.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of S.A.V.E Book 2

S.A.V.E Squad Book 2: The Great Cat Caper is written by Lauraine Snelling and Kathleen Wright.

What a fun sequel to the book S.A.V.E. Squad Book 1: Dog Daze. I enjoyed the first one and loved the second one. I hope they come out with more for this series!

This is a great book and although it is the second in this series you could read this book and enjoy it without having read the first one. I thought the characters were enjoyable and the story moved quickly. I thought the adventure was age appropriate and could be enjoyed by any child.

I gave this book 5/5 stars. The story flowed well and was amusing. The children were respectful and their conversations were enchanting. I liked how the book teaches Christian principles without being overly critical and in your face with what a Christian should do. I think this would be a great book for a child in the 7-10 age group who is looking for a fun fiction book to enjoy!

The Baron's Governess Bride Review

The Baron’s Governess Bride is written by Deborah Hale.

I really enjoyed this book and was sad to see it end. The author does an excellent job of making the characters believable. The ending fits the story and will leave you satisfied.

This book takes place in England in the early 1800’s. The main characters are Grace and Lord Steadwell. How they meet is believable. I enjoyed their conversations and liked their interactions. I thought the story itself made for a great read. One of the best parts was the masquerade ball. I also enjoyed the children that Grace is there to be governess over. I thought how they were written made them an important part of the story.

I gave this book 5/5 stars. I liked the setting, characters, and story line. I thought the setting was described well. The characters had depth and their conversations helped the story move quickly. The story line was interesting and kept my attention. If you like a quick read and enjoy Christian romances this book will be perfect for you!

Review of Her Surprise Sister

Her Surprise Sister is written by Marta Perry.

This story is about girl twins Violet and Maddie who do not know about each other until they meet at a restaurant. Seeing another person who looks just like you can be disconcerting. How they react and how their lives change after is the whole of this book. There is mystery, deception and romance throughout the story.

I gave this book 4/5 stars. I liked the concept of the story but felt it did not live up to my expectations. I did think the author did a good job at the conversations. They really helped the story move along. The story itself moved a little slow for me at the beginning. Some of what happens just would not happen so quickly in real life and therefore was unbelievable to me. I did enjoy the story as a two-hour escape from real life and therefore do recommend it to anyone looking for a quick Christian romance with a touch of intrigue

Review of the book Acsah

Acsah by Janice Rice

Acsah is written by Janice Rice and published by Ellechor Publishing House.

This story is based on the Biblical character of Acsah found in the book Joshua.  This women is given in marriage by her father Caleb to the man who could win a certain battle.  This fictional recounting of the story takes many liberties.  Since not much is written the author has added much to make this an interesting story.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought it was a bit wordy.  There was too much description and internal thoughts.  That said, I still enjoyed the story.  I thought the author did well at portraying the emotions of the characters.  I liked the conversations and setting descriptions.  I think anyone who is interested in Biblical fiction will enjoy the book.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Parrish The Thought Book Review

Parrish the Thought by Catherine Leggitt

Parrish the Thought is written by Catherine Leggitt and published by Ellechor Publishing House.

This is book three of the Christine Sterling Mystery Trilogy.  You really need to read the other two books to enjoy this book to the fullest.  You will still enjoy the story but reading all three of the books is the way to go.  This book finds Christine Sterling investigating the murder of Mrs. Parrish.  The accused killer is a hard to get along with teenager named Amanda.  The interaction of the two characters flows well and is easy to read.  The details are given to you at just the right times to keep you guessing and wanting to keep reading.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  The characters were well developed and easy to root for.  The conversations were believable and helped the story move quickly.  It is told in the first person which at times became tedious.  Overall I enjoyed the story but do not think I would read it again.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of a book of poems

Morning's Promise by Jennifer Anne F. Messing

Morning’s Promise is written by Jennifer Anne Messing and published by Ellechor Publishing House.

This is a book filled with verses and poems that are divided by topic.  There are five different topics.  The titles are God’s Call and Guidance, Faith and Trust, God’s Care and Provision, Loving God and Serving God at Home.  The poems and verses under each topic relate to the said topic.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  It was nice that the author compiled all of these together.  I liked the different poems.  I thought they were well written and highlighted the topic of the section they were in.  I also enjoyed the Bible verses that were well thought out and placed in the right section.  I do wish there had been more to the poems.  Maybe if the author had written why those were chosen or at least some kind of story behind some of them.  I would have enjoyed the book more had there been more than just verses and poems.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of A Heavenly Christmas

A Heavenly Christmas by Craig Van Zandt

A Heavenly Christmas is written by Craig Van Zandt and is published by Tate Publishing.  This book is a 31 day devotional for the family.  It is meant to point you to Jesus, the real reason for Christmas.

This is a very good devotional families with older children or can also be used for your personal devotional time.  After reading these devotionals you will have a better understanding of Christmas and what it means to all Christians.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the concept of the book but found parts of it too wordy.  Just too much information that was not helpful.  I did, however, enjoy most of the book and think it would be a good devotional for anyone needing a refresher on why we celebrate Christmas.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of the Wooden Ring

The Wooden Ring by Alice Baudat

The Wooden Ring is written by Alice Baudat and is published by Tate Publishing.  This book is the sequel to The Wooden Bowl also written by Alice Baudat.  I recommend reading the other book first before reading this book.  You will better understand the concept behind the book and the characters and town written about in the story.

This book is a unique story.  You can easily get lost in the story as the author switches between the characters viewpoints quite often.  Once you are familiar with the characters though, you can follow more easily.  I thought this book was more interesting then the first but it still was missing that special something that makes you want to read it again.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the story was unique and the characters were intriguing.  I did however think it could have flowed better and could have used more action and less introspection.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

To Love and Cherish, Book Review

To Love and Cherish by Tracie Peterson

To Love and Cherish is written by Tracie Peterson and Judith Miller.

This is book two in the Bridal Veil Island series.  You do not have to read the books in order to enjoy the stories.  One of the highlights of this particular book is the setting.  The authors do an excellent job of describing the island and how it would have appeared during the late 1800’s.  I liked the story but felt the main characters could have been more likable.  Their interactions were somewhat believable but there was too much wondering what the other was thinking.

The story follows Melinda and Evan.  Melinda is ready for a proposal but Evan wants to be able to financially support her before making that kind of promise.  Will they finally get together or will their busy lives lead them down different paths?

I gave this book 4/5 stars for a couple of reasons.  I felt like the sub characters in the story were well written and actually more likable then the main characters.  I also felt like the story itself moved rather slowly. It still was a good historical fiction book and I think most people will enjoy the story!

I would like to the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of Understanding World Relgiions

Understanding World Religions in 15 Minutes a Day is written by Garry Morgan.

I loved this book and will be keeping it on my bookshelf for later use.  It was easy to follow, well written and a must read for all students interested in world religions.

There are forty chapters that include information on the religion listed in the title of the chapter.  The chapters are actually only a few pages long which help make this book a great devotional.   Some of the religions written about are Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam.   There are even chapters on Mormons, New Age and Judaism.

The author gives a background for how each religion was first introduced.  I liked the historical aspect of each section.  I also liked how the book goes into detail about the differences within each religion.  Reading how the religions have transformed over the years was especially enlightening.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought it was easy to understand, filled with great information and a must read for any Christian interested in the religions of the world.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Understanding World Religions in 15 Minutes a Day by Garry R. Morgan

Review of Disconnected

Disconnected is written by Kennedy Barrows and published by Dorrance.

This book is not one you can just sit down and read in one sitting.  I found it to be informative yet overwhelming at times.  I would say it took me about a month to read through.

You will find that the chapters are short.  However, this does not mean they are easy to understand.  The author had divided the book into different sections and under each section has written what I would call articles about the subject presented.  There are personal stories included as well as pertinent examples to reiterate the authors point.

A couple of the sections are Boundaries and Communication.  Under the section Boundaries there are chapters titled The Broken Record Routine and Threats.  Under the Communication section you will find chapters titled Words Can Hurt and I First Look in the Mirror.

I found this book hard to understand.  It read like a bunch of articles thrown together.  The articles were not easy to comprehend either.  I think this book would be a good read for a student studying to be a counselor or someone who is studying human behavior.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought it was boring and hard to understand.  I was hoping for a book about ways to improve our lives in this computer run world but I was greatly disappointed.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review of book titled Sandwich

Sandwich, With A Side Of Romance is written by Krista Phillips.

I really enjoyed this book!  There was humor and a great story line.  I will read any book this author writes!

The conversations between the two main characters, Maddie and Reuben really helped this story move quickly.  The prayers of Maddie were great and you could imagine the character really praying them.  I liked how the story flowed from one scene to the next.  I enjoyed the minor characters in the book as much as the main ones!  The family that has an influence on Maddie was great and written like they were real.  Actually I felt like each character in this book could have been real!

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the story itself was very interesting.  I thought the characters were well developed and their interactions were believable.  I could not put this book down.  I read it in one sitting and enjoyed every bit of it!  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian comedy, romance and family books.  This is a very well written book and definitely worth your time!
