Review of Wonderstruck

Have you forgotten how marvelous the Lord is?  Do you need a reminder of all the Lord has done?  This book will be a great reminder as the author does an excellent job of showing just how wonderful the Lord is.  Wonderstruck is exactly how you will feel after really reading and studying this book!

I gave this book 5/5 stars!  I found the book to be encouraging and very well written.  The language used was easy to understand and the information flowed from one nugget to the next with no interruption.  I would recommend this book for anyone who needs a lift in their day or in their life!  Read and be wonderstruck!

Review of Strength Renewed

This is a very uplifting book that will point you to scripture to find the strength you need each day.  I thought the author wrote a very personal story in a very open and uplifting manner.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  The chapters are short and all include scripture with some kind of lesson the author has learned while dealing with cancer.  I liked the devotional format of the book.  I especially enjoyed reading about how the struggles the author encountered were all made a little easier by relying on the Lord for strength.  I would recommend this book for anyone dealing with cancer and even family members that are being touched by the cancer of their loved one.

Review of Moms Raising Sons To Be Men

I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed this book.  It has so many helpful tips and encouraging words that I could not put it down.  You do not have to be a mom of boys to enjoy this book, any mom will learn from these pages.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  You will laugh at some of the authors’ stories but more importantly you will discover ways to be a better mom to your children.  I highly recommend this book to all moms, especially those with boys.  No matter the age of your child you will find a section in this book to help you.  The goal of directing your son to a Godly life is not impossible and this book is a great place to get some direction!

Review of Fear, Faith and a Fistful of Chocolate

This is a funny yet meaningful book. You will find yourself laughing and learning as you read these well written pages.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the author did very well at breaking down the different fears and the categories they fall into.  I liked how the book was non-judgmental and had excellent Scripture reference to back up the topic she was highlighting.  I would recommend this book for any woman who has more fears then not!  You will enjoy the book as well as learn from it.

Review of Fatherless

It took me awhile to get into this book.  I understood what the authors were trying to accomplish by writing this but the story just did not thrill me.  The book is fictional which is obvious from the beginning.  It takes place when life really doesn’t mean anything to anyone.  It is a sad book with spots of happiness.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I enjoyed the creativity of the storyline but felt the story itself was not that enjoyable.  If you enjoy science fiction novels or end times type novels you may enjoy the story better than me.

Review of Every Day is A New Shade of Blue

This book is excellent for when you are having a bad day or even week!  This very easy to read and understand book will be a great encouragement to you.  The author goes through the 23^rd Psalms and highlights the ways the Lord takes care of us.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I have read other books by this author but this book seemed more personal than the others.  It is a very uplifting book and a must read for all Christians.  If you know someone who is having a difficult time this would be a great present for them.  They will be reminded how much the Lord loves and cares for them no matter what the circumstance are.   I highly recommend reading this book!

Review of 52 Things Daughters Need From Their Dads

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the idea of 52 things that a Dad could share with his daughter to further their relationship.  I did however think some of them could have been merged together and narrowed down a bit.  This book was filled from the beginning to the end with words!  I don’t know how else to describe this overly wordy book.  Although there was great information dispersed throughout the book, I felt like most of the book could have been edited out!  If the author had been more precise in his explanations of the 52 things the book would have been shorter and better organized.  I did like some of the ideas the author had about spending time with your daughter. I liked how he explained how to be there starting when the girls are young so that when they go through the teenage years they know you will be right there supporting them.  I also liked how he suggested dates with your daughter.  I think that was one of the best ides in the book.  If you are a Dad and want some ideas on how to connect with your daughter this book could definitely be helpful.

Review of 10 Questions Kids Ask About Sex

This was a great book and should be read by all parents who need some advice on how to answer questions their children have about sex.  It is told from a Christian viewpoint and therefore based on the Bible’s view of sex.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the examples used and the answers presented were well written and easy to follow.  I think the questions chosen were broad enough that any family can benefit from the helpful answers.  The authors writing style is relaxed and actually humorous as well.  I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to all parents!
