Review of The Chance by Karen Kingsbury

The Chance: A Novel
The Chance is written by Karen Kingsbury.

This is another great book by author Karen Kingsbury.  She is known for her series about the Baxter family.  If you have not read any of her other books though this one would be a great one to start with.  It does have a couple characters from one of her books called The Bridge.  You do not have to read that book to enjoy this one.

I gave this book 4/5 stars as I had positives as well as negatives about this book.  On the positive side the two main characters, Ellie and Nolan, were well written and their relationship was believable.  I also thought the story of how they part and reunite was interesting.  On the negative side there was a bit of jumping around between what was happening now and what had happened over the past years.  There was also a few other characters that played important parts and reading their thoughts made for a lot of introspection and not enough conversation.  There is also the relationship of Ellie and her daughter.  How Ellie talks to her and opens up about her life just was not believable.  I thought the author should have given Ellie a friend to talk to about the issues not a very young girl.  It just was not something I think you would see in real life.  All that said I felt the ending was perfect for the situation and all will enjoy the story!

Review of What Your Husband Isn't Telling You

What Your Husband Isn't Telling You by David Murrow

This book has great information on ways to communicate and support your husband.  The author is open but not to the point where it is an overly personal book.  The book is written in an easy to understand format.  The bulk of the book is explaining, from a Christian viewpoint, how men think.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the writing style of the author.  It was what I would call a relaxed style.  The author did an excellent job of making the subject of men and how they think easy to understand.   I liked that the book was a man’s perspective and I especially liked the Christian aspects of the book.  I would recommend this book to any Christian wife who wants to better understand how her husband thinks and even why he acts the way he does!

Review of The Truth About Breaking Up

Review of The Truth About Breaking Up, Making Up, and Moving On

This is an excellent book for all teenagers and their parents to read.  The author has a great sense of humor and as you read the book you feel like you are having a fantastic conversation with a friend.  The information he shares is personal and practical.  I liked how he showed that the emotional times you are encountering as a teenager can help you become a better adult.  I also liked that the book was not judgmental in any way but was very encouraging!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book for any teenager, youth group, or Sunday School class.  It is a great book to read alone or with a group!  This is a must read!

ROCB: I Am Harriet Tubman

I Am #6: Harriet Tubman

Review of Childrens Book I Am Harriet Tubman

This book follows Harriet Tubman from a personal viewpoint.  It felt like you were reading a letter from a family member telling her story.  I really enjoyed the viewpoint and information included in this version of her life history.  I gave this book 5/5 stars. I thought the pictures and illustrations were well placed and helped the book have credibility.  I learned things about Harriet Tubman that I did not know!  I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an easy to read and understand retelling of her life story!
