Soul Detox

Soul Detox, Clean Living In A Contaminated World, is written by Craig Groeschel.

This book has an interesting viewpoint on the world we live in and the influence that has on a Christian’s behavior.

How are our words, habits and actions influenced by what we see around us? The author of this book says the influence is great and offers ways to start detoxing yourself from the views of the unspiritual world that surrounds you. If you feel you need a refresher on ways to stay separate from the world, this book has many easy to understand principles you can start to follow.

I gave this book 4/5 stars because I found some of the writing to be difficult to follow. Parts of the book were boring but overall the book offers some great ideas on ways to stay close to the Lord and further from the world’s influences.

Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here is written by Beth K. Vogt.

I enjoyed the concept of this book. A soon to be bride and the kiss that changes everything!

Allison Denman is set to be married very soon. The wedding is just not what she wanted it to be and this causes some unexpected events. Only days away from the special day and she kisses Daniel, her soon to be grooms brother! She has to decide if she should go with what feels right to her or keep down the path of pleasing others over herself.

I liked the writing of the book. It flowed really well and was very easy to read. The characters were complex but not enough to bore you. I liked how the relationships were written and how they played out in the end. The author is a great storyteller. I have this book 5/5 stars because the story was unique and the author wrote a very entertaining book!

Letting Go Of Perfect

Letting Go Of Perfect is written by Amy Spiegel.

What do you think being perfect is all about? The author of this book takes some of the most common ideas of perfection and points you to the Lord as our standard instead of the worlds.

My favorite part of this book was in the back in a section called Letting Go Of Perfect This Week. It takes each day of the week and gives you something to work on that day. It really helps draw everything she is trying to get across together in an easy to follow format. You work on a particular principle for the day and by concentrating on that you can really make changes in your life in one week!

I liked how the author presented this book. She was very open and the words were very loving and not condemning. I feel any women reading this book will not feel so alone in her struggle. I also think any women reading this will gain some great principles to apply to their life. I gave this book 5/5 stars because I felt it was well written and worth all women reading.

How Should Christians Vote?

How Should Christians Vote, is written by Tony Evans.

This book takes the issue of voting and relates it to principles found in the Bible. You may not agree with all that Dr. Tony Evans says but he does well at backing up his ideas with scripture.

Who to vote for? What do you use as guidelines when making that decision? Whether it is for a local group or for you state Senator, each vote is important because you are putting the person in place that will help make the rules you will have to live by. Do you vote on personality or principle?

When reading this book be sure to read the scriptures for yourself and form you own opinions of Dr. Evans ideas. As a Christian you probably have certain principles you believe and do your best to adhere to. When you vote you are to remember those personal principles and vote for the candidate that complies with them the best.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.

A Heart Like His, Intimate Reflections On The Life Of David is written by Beth Moore.

This is a new edition of this book. If you have never read a Beth Moore book before this is a great one to start with. If you have read her books you will love this book just as much as all the others.

This particular book delves into the life of David and his relationship with the Lord. The book describes David’s life and relates it to our life today. I found the book very educational. Sermons on the life of David are preached all the time. I felt this book takes you on a unique journey that explores David’s life. It is very easy to read and the authors’ personality really shines when she relates David’s life lessons to lessons we can learn today.

I gave this book 5/5 stars for numerous reasons. It is easy to read and easy to understand. It has lessons for your every day life and the lessons are presented in a loving manner. I think this book is a must read for all Christian interested in the life of David.
