Til Grits Do Us Part Book Review

Til Grits Do Us Part is written by Jennifer Rogers Spinola.

This book is part of the Southern Fried Sushi series.  You do not have to read the others in the series but I would recommend doing it.  You will better understand the characters and their interactions if you take the time to read the others.  The main characters are unique and the setting is described well.

I gave this book of the series 4/5 stars.  I like the characters and the plot but did not think this book flowed well.  I felt like it jumped around too much for me.  I also think the stories could have all been put into one book instead of the three so far.  It would have made the stories more interesting.  I also did not find much of a Christian influence written in the story.  It felt like I was reading a typical mystery book not a Christian one.

Review of Though Mountains Fall

Though Mountains Fall, Daughters of Caleb Bender Series #3

Though Mountains Fall is written by Dale Cramer.

If you like Amish Christian Fiction you will enjoy this book!  You will actually enjoy the whole series this book is a part of.  You do not have to read the others in the series but I would recommend reading them as you will enjoy the story more.

I gave this book 5/5.  I loved how this book was written.  There was so much to the characters personalities and the storyline was enjoyable.  I liked the interaction and conversations.  It was a quick read for me.  I could not put it down until I read how the story for these great characters was completed.  This book is a great Amish fiction book with a meaningful storyline and likeable characters.

Review of Rancher's Refuge

Rancher's Refuge

Ranchers Refuge is written by Linda Goodnight.

This story is set on a ranch and includes drama and romance!  Their first meeting finds Annalisa with a broken arm and Austin rescuing her from what, he is not sure.  So starts this fast moving love story.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the storyline was great.  I liked how the two characters come together and grow to trust each other.  The author wrote some great conversations and even their inner thoughts were easy to read and follow.  The minor stories were ok but did not really add to the story.  The setting was great and how the author described them was well written.  You can really picture the ranch and town in your head.  I enjoyed the story and would recommend to anyone looking for a quick Christian romance to read.

Review of Your Girl

Your Girl:  Raising A Godly Daughter In An Ungodly World is written by Vicki Courtney

I want to start by saying this book is meant for Christian mothers who have a daughter.  I have read other reviews of this book and was a little worried that I would not like it.  Some of the style of writing from the author does come across as condescending.  I do not think the author meant for it too but the book does get a little preachy at times.  If you are not a Christian I do not think her advice will be something you will want to hear, hence the other bad reviews!

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  Although the style of writing was a bit in your face at times if you could read past that there was quite a bit of good information to take away with from this book.  The author’s advice on how to protect your daughter from the influence of magazines and television was helpful.  There were also great steps to get the two of you talking about subjects that might be hard to discuss.  Overall it was a good book that I think all mothers should read.

Review of Home By Dark

Home by Dark (Hqn)

Home By Dark is written by Marta Perry.

Moving back to the place she left would not be easy but Rachel decides it is what is best for her and her daughter.  Her mother-in-law has left her a house to live in and it seems the perfect time to make the change.  Her brother is one of the few people in her familiar Amish community to welcome her back.  He seems upset by something though and that is when the real action of the story begins.  Colin, a friend of Rachel’s late husband, stops by and their relationship is the little bit of romance in this book.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  It started a little slower then I like for a suspense story.  The minor characters were a little boring and did not really make the story better. All that said I liked the tension between the two main characters, Rachel and Colin.  I liked how the author wrote their conversations and interactions.  It was a decent enough suspense story with some romance thrown in.

Review of Camellia

Camellia: Song of the River (2)

Camellia is written by Diane Ashley and Aaron McCarver.

This is book two in the Song of the River Series.  You do not have to read the first to enjoy and understand this one.  I liked that this book could be read alone.  A lot of series you have to read all the books to get the whole story of certain characters.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  At first I did not like the main character, Camellia, too much.  As the story proceeded though I grew to like and respect her more.  I thought the other main character Jonah was also interesting.  The authors wrote their interactions so well I could almost hear their voices bantering back and forth.  I enjoyed the storyline and would recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys Christian Historical Fiction Books!
