Review of Guarding the Witness

Guarding the Witness by Margaret Daley
I loved this book and once I started reading I did not put it down until I was finished!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  The story is about a women, Arianna, who is a bodyguard and how her life changes when she witnesses a murder.  She is used to being the one guarding not the one being guarded.  When her hideout is found out she has to learn to trust U.S. Marshall Brody who is now in charge of guarding her!   Arianna is trying to stay alive long enough to get to the courthouse to testify but the murderer has his men out looking for her.  When U.S. Marshall Brody and Arianna begin to run from the house they were found they encounter a forest fire and a rapid filled river.  What they don’t realize however, is this is just the beginning of a very long journey!  Will they make it through together?  Will they fall so much in love that it clouds their ability to stay safe?  I cannot recommend this book enough!  I enjoy most of the Love Inspired Suspense books but so far this one has been my favorite.  There is so much action and the story itself is even believable.  I would recommend this book for anyone who likes Christian suspense and love stories!

Review of The Bride Next Door

The Bride Next Door (Texas Grooms, #2)

This story will get your attention from the beginning.  The characters have depth and you will instantly enjoy them.  Daisy is new to town and meets the local newspaper man on her first night.  Everett is surprised how quickly Daisy becomes a part of his day to day life.  The two begin to share some fun moments together and start a friendship.  When Everett’s sister comes to town the dynamic of their relationship changes for the better.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  Although it is part of a series you do not have to read the others to enjoy this book.  I thought the story line was well developed and it kept me interested.  I enjoyed the characters as they were believable.  You could actually see this story being true for some couple!  I thought the characters changed a bit during the story and that made it even more believable.  I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick romance to read.

Review of Sisters of Mercy Flats

Sisters of Mercy Flats

This book starts out with three sisters entering a bar and swindling money from an innocent man.  The story then follows just one sister, Abigail, as her journey takes her from a stage coach wreck all the way back home to Mercy Flats.  Her adventures along the way and her relationship with her rescuer, Hershall Digman, are what help this book move quickly.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I enjoyed the adventures and dialog.  I especially liked how the characters changed over time.  You could actually see them growing up as they encountered different difficulties.  The time period also helped this story have depth and kept me interested in what would happen next.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian historical fiction.

Review of The Shadowed Onyx

The Shadowed Onyx by Nicole O'Dell

This is book three in the series titled Diamond Estates.  I have not read the others but will as soon as I can!  This is considered a teen novel and series but even an adult will enjoy the story. There is depth to the characters and the real life situations draw you into the story.  You cannot help but cheer on the young lead characters!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the writing style as it was easy to read without being simplistic.  I thought the characters were intriguing and really helped the story flow from one scene to the next.  I would recommend this book to any teenager looking for a Christian fiction novel to enjoy!

Review of Fearless Daughters of the Bible

Fearless Daughters of the Bible by J. Lee Grady

This book will not go down as one of my favorites.  I thought it was just going to be about women in the Bible.  There are different women mentioned in this book, some you may have never heard of.  I liked the idea the author was presenting that women can make a difference and take a stand.  I gave this book 4/5 stars for a couple reasons.  I thought the authors tone was too condescending.  It felt like he was saying if you are not out doing this and that you are not serving the Lord enough.  I think if this book had been written by a woman there would have been a better tone and not come across so preachy.  Now remember that is just my opinion, you may absolutely love the book!  I would recommend this to anyone looking for women to inspire them to be more like Christ in their service to the Lord.

Review of Sagebrush Knights

Sagebrush Knights by Erica Vetsch

Here is what I liked and did not like about this book.  I liked the setting and the sisters.  I thought their personalities were distinct.  I liked how each story built on the others yet was about the individual sister.  I did not like the storylines.  I found them to be boring and not as believable as I thought when I first picked the book.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I have read a lot of this style book with the four stories in one where they all relate to each other.  This particular book just was not one of the best.  It was still enjoyable and a quick read though.  I would recommend these stories for someone looking for a Christian fiction book set in the west in the late 1800’s.

Review of Positive Life Principles

Positive Life Principles for Women by Karol Ladd

I cannot say enough positive things about this book.  I happen to love this author and really think this is her best book yet!  You will find life changing help on every page!  She writes some very simple steps to improving your life.  If you have made mistakes in your life that you need help moving through you will definitely find great advice in this book!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I think the author used great scriptural examples and always pointed the reader to the Lord as their best resource.  I highly recommend this book to all women, especially those who struggle with perfectionism!

Review of Promises of Hope for Difficult Times

Promises of Hope for Difficult Times by Jane Kirkpatrick
This book has numerous personal stories from the life of the author Jane Kirkpatrick.  She is very open about her own private struggles and difficulties and offers lessons she has learned while dealing with life.  The entries are short and all have some kind of lesson you can glean from to help you throughout your day.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked how easy the entries where to read.  I would actually call this a devotional book as each one started with a verse and they were very short and made for quick reads.  I would recommend this as a gift book for anyone going through a difficult time or as a devotional book!

Review of Texas Wildflowers

Texas Wildflowers by Anita Higman
This is another great book by publisher Barbour.  This book has four stories that are related to each other but are terrific as standalone stories as well.  I liked how each of the four McBride sisters had their own unique personalities and therefore each of the romance stories was different.  Even though the stories where short they still had plenty of humor and good conversations to make then entertaining.  The relationship of the sisters helped make this book even more appealing.  This is one of my favorite four-in-one romances and for that reason I gladly give this book a 5/5 star rating.  I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick clean romance to read.

Review of Defending the Duchess

Defending the Duchess (Protecting the Crown, #1)

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the main character of Linus.  He was written very well and his personality was likeable and believable.  I especially enjoyed how the relationship between the soon to be Duchess Julia, and her bodyguard Linus, developed in the story.  It was not unbelievable that they were attracted to each other right away.  From the run on the beach to the incident at the hotel, the action in the story was entertaining and kept me turning the pages quickly!  I enjoyed this easy to read modern day romance and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick Christian romance to read.

Review of A Wedding Renewal

A Wedding Renewal in Sweetwater,Texas by Kim O'Brien

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the character development was well done.  You could really see the main characters personality through the conversations written.  What I did not like was the overly dramatic soap opera like story line.  It just felt like a fake book.  I like to read a book where you put it down feeling like the characters could be real people.  I just could not relate to the women in this story.  I am not saying don’t read this book just that it was not to my personal liking.
