Review of Yellowstone Memories

Yellowstone Memories: Wyoming Yellowstone National Park -
        By: Jennifer Spinola

This is a collection of four stories that all take place in the same location.  This author does very well at making the characters likable even though the stories are short.  I thought the romances were believable.  All the stories were entertaining but I especially enjoyed the last one.  I thought the characters were so well written that the author should start a series just about them.  It would make a good Christian adventure series.  Overall the stories were enjoyable and easy to read.  I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys short Christian fiction stories with enjoyable characters.

Review of A Woman's Guide to Reading the Bible

A Woman's Guide to Reading the Bible in a Year: A Life-Changing Journey Into the Heart of God -
        By: Diane Stortz

I thought this book would have a little more meat to it!  It is a decent book but not one of the best for understanding the Bible.  It divides the Bible up into passages to read so you can read the Bible through in a year.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked that the book was geared towards women.  I did however think that it could have used more substance.  I would recommend this book for any woman who has not read through the Bible before.  You will find the plan easy to follow and the author’s guidance will make it easier to understand.

Review of Walking on Eggshells

Walking on Eggshells: Discovering Strength and Courage Amid Chaos

The author of this book has loads of courage as she takes the time to share her very personal story.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the book was well written, easy to follow and had excellent advice.  The author is so open you feel like you are her best friend as she shares her story and offers tips on ways to not make the same mistakes she did.  She also shows that even a hard upbringing cannot stop you from doing what the Lord has called you to do.  I would recommend this book for anyone to read.  I think you will enjoy getting to know the author and take away some great lives lessons as well.

Review of Rosa's Land

Rosa's Land, Western Justice Series #1

The author of this book is well known.  I thought because he is a best seller that I would love the book and not want to put it down.  I was so disappointed!  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the story was very slow, had too many descriptions and the characters were not very likable.  I did enjoy the setting of the book and thought some of the minor characters were actually very interesting.  On the other hand, the main characters of Lafayette and Rosa where just not that fascinating.  Their interactions were not entertaining at all.  All that said, you may enjoy it more than me so don’t let my opinion stop you from reading it!

Review of Rakes Redemption

The Rake's Redemption

Great action, intrigue and romance!  This is an excellent book!  I loved the setting and the characters are likeable as well!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I am already a fan of Regency romance novels and this one does not disappoint.  The main characters of Vaughn and Imogene have some great conversations!  I loved the intrigue element in the story.  Sometimes the mystery takes a back seat to the romance but this author does an excellent job of equal writing time.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Regency romances as well as Christian intrigue novels.

Review of Katie Opens Her Heart

Katie Opens Her Heart, Emma Raber's Daughter Series #1
I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the relationship between mother and daughter was well written.  I did however feel like there was a negative light shown on protective parents.  In the end it works out for the best of all the characters but this was not one of my favorite books by this author.  I do recommend this book for anyone who enjoys Christian Amish fiction.  I would also recommend this book for anyone who enjoys stories about family relationships.

Review of Hope for an Aching Heart

Hope for an Aching Heart: Uplifting Devotions for Widows -
        By: Margaret Nyman
This book is meant to be a devotional for those who have recently been widowed.  I thought the devotionals were well thought out and beautifully written.  There are no meaningless words filling the pages but thoughtful and encouraging ones.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the loving way in which the author wrote some of her own personal experiences and feelings.  This is a book that will encourage all who are going through a time of grieving in their lives.  I would recommend this book to give as a gift to any friend who has recently lost a spouse.

Review of Hope Beyond Your Tears

Hope Beyond Your Tears: Experiencing Christ's Healing Love -
By: Trevor Hudson & Dallas Willard

This is not a very long book but worth your time if you are looking for some encouragement after a personal tragedy.  I thought the writings were very meaningful.  I found the chapters to be short but filled with helpful insight as you deal with the day’s issues.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  Although it had encouraging words I found some of the pages boring.  It just did not hold my attention the whole time.  I would recommend this book as a gift to anyone going through a difficult time or someone having just gone through one.  I think they will find encouragement in its pages.

Ashton Park, Danforths of Lancashire Series #1

Looking for a book set in England?  What about a family that interacts with their servants?  You will find those and so much more in this book!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I loved the characters in the story.  They seemed so real.  You will put the book down and want to pick it back up and see what they are going to do next.  I liked that it held my interest the whole time and was also very entertaining.  I would recommend this book to all fans of historical Christian fiction books.  You will find likeable characters, a great setting and a fun read!
