Review of 52 Ways to Grow Your Faith

52 Ways to Grow Your Faith by Gregg Farah
I will start by saying this is an easy to understand and follow book.  I thought the chapters were laid out in an orderly way and made the book easy to read.  I liked the simple ways the author presented the steps to grow your faith.  If you are having doubts or just need reassurance of what being a Christian is all about, this is a great book for you.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this to any Christian, especially a newer one.  I think they will find the helpful tips a great way to grow in the Lord.

Review of Starting at the End

Starting at the End
I thought I would enjoy this book more than I did.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  There was a lot of information on the pages and sometimes it was overwhelming.  I thought it had interesting information about what different people think the end will mean for the world.  I also liked the idea of the book but did not think it was very well written out.  I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a textbook type read about how the world might end.

Review of Prairie Anna

Prairie Anna
Although this is listed as a book for children I still enjoyed it!  There are some high drama moments so if your child is prone to get emotional while reading a sad story beware, this book will upset them!  I did give this book 5/5 stars because it was well written and kept my attention.  I liked how the main character was a child.  I also liked how the child had to deal with some real life issues.  It is a very well written book and worth the read!

Review of Poison Town

Poison Town: A Novel (The Crittendon Files)
What a great book!  This book held my attention from the very beginning and kept me coming back!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked that it took place in Ohio and was written like the incidents could really happen.  I thought the main characters were intriguing and really helped the story move from one exciting scene to the next.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great Christian mystery.  I will definitely read any other book in this series!

Review of Forgiving our Fathers and Mothers

Forgiving Our Fathers and Mothers: Finding Freedom from Hurt and Hate

I would recommend this book for all adult children to read.  I thought it was well written and is very easy to understand.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the author stressing that everyone is human and we all make mistakes.  Sometimes you read these kinds of books and they say forgive no matter what.  This book shows you how to look at each situation with your parents from an adult point of view.  By doing this you find true forgiveness easier when you realize they were just as human as you are right now!  I enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it.

Review of Confident in Your Calling

Be Confident In Your Calling by Nathan D. Thomas
I gave this book 5/5 stars!  I found it very encouraging and highly recommend it.  I liked the simplicity of the message.  The author, Nathan Thomas, writes with warmth and a helpful spirit.  I thought the ideas presented were excellent.  Learning that the Lord has a certain calling for each of us can be a real encouragement to a Christian going through a negative time in their life.  I found that throughout the book the author always pointed to Christ as the answer by showing that He is our guide through life.  I would recommend the book to any Christian discouraged in their current work situation or unsure of what step to take next in their walk with the Lord.

Review of Happily Ever After by Trista Sutter

The author of this book is mostly known for being on a reality television show.  This book will open your eyes to who Trista Sutter is outside of the reality show “reality.”  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  While reading this book you will feel like you are sitting at your kitchen table with coffee (or tea) cup in hand talking with a real good friend.

I found each chapter to be informative and entertaining.  The book title gives you a good idea of what the book is about, finding happiness in the mundane of life.  I liked the ideas presented and how they were presented.  One of them is looking for something to be thankful for everyday, no matter the circumstances of the day.  The author shows that by doing this you are switching your focus to positive thinking.  Another idea was to stop worrying so much about the picking up of toys as much as thinking about all the fun that was had with them.

There are so many positive things I could say about this book but it all boils down to me saying, go get the book and read it!  I would recommend this book to any mom, as I think there are some great ideas and hints for those hard to get through days.  It would also be enjoyed by any woman who likes reality television and wants to know what it is really like.  Lastly, I would recommend this book to any woman looking for help in thinking more positively throughout their day!

Review of Travels with Gannon & Wyatt Botswana

Loved this book!  I enjoyed the adventure and the characters.  I gave this book 5/5 stars!  This book is meant for the middle school age child but as an adult I thoroughly enjoyed it!  It is filled with information about the setting and animals.  I would recommend this book to any over 13 age child who enjoys adventures, animals and history.  I could not put the book down and actually read it in one sitting.

Review of Surprising Grace of Disappointment

The Surprising Grace of Disappointment - By: John Koessler
This book is a must read for every Christian.  You will find hope and encouragement throughout the book.  I happily gave this 5/5 stars!  I would recommend this book to anyone who has recently dealt with a time in their life where something did not happen the way they thought it should.  You may not agree with everything the author puts out there for you to think about but you will not be able to deny he has done his research.  I liked the style of writing and the attitude of the author is definitely friendly and non judgmental.  This is a book I would read again.

Review of Seriously Funny 2

The book is a series of letters between the two authors.  Each chapter is written by one of them and they respond to what the other has written in the previous chapter.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I enjoyed some of the humorous stories and liked how they inserted some basic Christian principles.  I did, however get a bit bored with it all.  I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a book that has funny stories in it.  I gave it a lower rating because I just did not enjoy all of it and felt it could have been edited down better.

Review of Razed

This is a very emotional book.  It follows the relationship of a son and father.  Although it was not a favorite read of mine I did enjoy the basic story line.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the author did well at writing the emotions of the characters so you could really imagine how they were reacting to each other.  I did not enjoy all of the writing as I felt it was just too wordy at times.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading books that are not just quick reads or simple romances.  You will find the book to have deep themes and real life emotions.

Review of Gerald Lund's The Guardian

I did not enjoy most of this book!  It was just too wordy and parts of it just not make sense with the rest of the story.  I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys a mix of fantasy, fiction and adventure.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  Although I did not enjoy it and would not read it again the story itself had some engaging characters.  I also think the author is great at describing and does well at conversational writing.  This book is really all over the place but that is just my opinion, you may enjoy it!

Review of Every Good Endeaver

Every Good Endeavor: Connecting Your Work to God's Plan for the World - By: Timothy Keller

What an excellent book!  This is a great book for any Christian who has questions about why they should go to work every day.  The book highlights are many!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked how easy this was to read and how much helpful information it contained.  I thought the author’s reasons for why we should work and why we should do it for the Lord were well thought out.  I liked how he showed that working gives us purpose and we are all here for the Lords purpose so should look to him for guidance about what job we should be doing.  Knowing that the job you are doing, whether a missionary or business owner, is what the Lord has called you to do can be a real comfort and motivator.  I would recommend this book to all Christians who do not work in the ministry!
