Review of book titled Sandwich

Sandwich, With A Side Of Romance is written by Krista Phillips.

I really enjoyed this book!  There was humor and a great story line.  I will read any book this author writes!

The conversations between the two main characters, Maddie and Reuben really helped this story move quickly.  The prayers of Maddie were great and you could imagine the character really praying them.  I liked how the story flowed from one scene to the next.  I enjoyed the minor characters in the book as much as the main ones!  The family that has an influence on Maddie was great and written like they were real.  Actually I felt like each character in this book could have been real!

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the story itself was very interesting.  I thought the characters were well developed and their interactions were believable.  I could not put this book down.  I read it in one sitting and enjoyed every bit of it!  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian comedy, romance and family books.  This is a very well written book and definitely worth your time!

Review of book by Leighann McCoy

Oh God, Please Help Me With My Doubt is written by Leighann McCoy.

This book is about your prayer life.  It is meant to encourage you to pray more by revealing ways we sabotage our prayer lives with doubt.

Although this was not one of the best books I have read it did have some valid points that were helpful.  The author uses plenty of scripture to make her points.  She also has numerous stories that also reiterate what principle she is trying to get across to the reader.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the author had good insight on some principles.  Some of the book was really just a bunch of personal stories.  I think if some of these had been edited out the book would have flowed better.  I liked the sayings from others but thought the author used them too much.  All that aside, I did enjoy the book and thought there were enough good parts to make this book worth recommending.

Review of A Boy After God's Own Heart

A Boy After God’s Own Heart  is written by Jim George.

I have read every book by Elizabeth George who is the author’s wife.  I was hoping this book would be as good as hers have been.  I was not disappointed!  This is a great book for young boys, early teen years, and parents of said boys!

The subtitle is “Your Awesome Adventure With Jesus.”  I like how even the title makes you want to read more!  This is a very simple and easy to read book.  It is organized well and would be perfect for reading as a devotional with your son.  If you choose to have him read it on his own, be sure to have some time to answer any questions he might have.

I liked the principles taught in this book.  I thought they were very practical and easy to follow.  From making sure your focus and attention is on what the Lord wants for your life to learning to show respect to your parents each principle is explained well.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I think it would be perfect for a young teenage boy to read as well as his parents.

Review of Archeological Evidence

Archeological Evidence of Noah’s Flood is written by Philip Williams.

This book is more of a textbook then a light read!  The author writes his viewpoint of the existence of Noah’s flood.  It is a very detailed book that is loaded with information.

It took me awhile to get through this book.  I was hoping it would be more of a few viewpoints briefly explained.  It was however a very detailed book based on the viewpoints of the author.  I did like how he supported his theories.  I did like the style of his writing. He explained things very well.  I do think this would make a good book for a college class to read while studying Creation or the Flood.

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the idea of the book.  I did however think it was too detailed.  I do not think this book can be read in a couple sittings.  You will need some time to digest all that is explained.  I also felt it was rather boring at times.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading.  I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Christmas Wish Review

Susanna’s Christmas Wish is written by Jerry Eicher.

Looking for a quick book with Amish believers as the main characters? This book is just what you are looking for!  You will love every page.

The author, Jerry Eicher, does an excellent job of writing an easy to read and enjoy story.  The characters are intriguing and their conversations will keep your attention.  I thought the story itself about Christmas, past loves and current situations was relevant and everyone will enjoy it!

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the story and how the characters interacted with each other.  I liked the struggles the main character Susanna went through when deciding how to celebrate Christmas.  I thought the ending fit the story and I would definitely read this book again!

Review of Success Secrets

One-Minute Success Secrets For Women is written by Gail Hayes.

This is a great book to have in your desk at work or on your nightstand.  It is simple and easy to read with heartfelt advice for your daily challenges.

I have never met the author but know that if I ever do it will be a meeting filled with love.  You can read each page in a few moments of your time but what you take away will change your whole day.  I liked that the devotions started with a verse.  I especially liked how the author expounded on the verses making them easy to understand.  I also felt that the whole book was written in an open and friendly manner.

I would recommend this book to any Christian woman looking for a quick moment of encouragement before starting her day.  It would be a perfect gift for a working woman or even a stay at home mom!  I gave this book 4/5 stars because I really wish some of the devotionals had been longer!

A Couple's Jouney With God Review

A Couple’s Journey With God is written by Bill and Pam Farrel.

Please get this book for every married couple you know!  Writing this book together the couple each give their point of view throughout it.  They are both very open and come across as caring people who really want to help you grow in your marriage relationship.

The examples and stories found in this devotional are very realistic and every couple will find them helpful in some area of their marriage.  The heart of the book can be found in their comparison of marriage to a tree.  A tree with good roots is like a marriage that cares for the other person in their marriage more.  A tree with shallow roots is like a marriage with self absorbed partners.

I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I enjoyed each devotional and felt the whole of the book was informative and encouraging.  The authors do very well at giving examples of the principle they are discussing.  This is not a judgmental book but a very lovingly written advice book for married couples.

Lady in the Making Review

A Lady in the Making is written by Susan Page Davis.

This is book three in the Prairie Dreams series.  I would highly recommend reading the other books in the series before reading this one.  I know you will enjoy the story even if you don’t read the others but it will make the book easier to follow if you do.

Millie Evans has decided to change her life.  Will she be able to convince those she has hurt that she is turning her life around?  David Stone can not believe he has run into Millie again!  Can he learn to trust her?  Can they finally be together or has too much passed between them to have a future together?

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the story itself had good adventure and great characters.  I liked the interaction of the main characters.  I especially enjoyed the setting.  I do think that reading the others in the series is important and therefore gave the lower rating, as it is not a good stand-alone book.

Accidentally Amish Review

Accidentally Amish

Accidentally Amish is written by Olivia Newport.

This is book One in the Valley of Choice Series by Olivia Newport.  Annie is on the run; will she run into the arms of Rufus, her new found Amish friend?

Annie lives a very busy life.  Filled with the most up to date technology used to make her life easier.  When she finds herself in need of a hiding place she ends up in the barn of Rufus Beiler who is part of the Amish community.  Will she learn to like the ways of the Amish better then her technology filled world?  Will Rufus have an influence on her or will his lifestyle cause her to run again?

I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the book was good but missed that certain zing that catches your attention when reading a good book.  I liked the characters but they did not have much depth.  Overall it was a good story and if you are looking for a Christian fiction book to escape into this book will do just fine.

Review of the Fruitful Wife

The Fruitful Wife: Cultivating a Love Only God Can Produce

The Fruitful Wife is written by  Hayley DiMarco.

There are a lot of books about marriage.  This particular book is for a wife.  The author uses the fruits of the spirit to give some simple steps a wife can do to help make her marriage better.

I like how the author pointed to the Lord and His guidelines as the ultimate map for wives to use when working on their marriage.  I thought the author wrote with a loving heart and was very open about her own issues.  I found the book to be hopeful and not just a list of do this but not that principles.

I gave this book 5/5 stars for a few reasons.  I thought the author wrote a very organized and easy to understand book.  I liked the idea of using the fruits of the spirit as a guide for making your marriage better.  I also found the book to be helpful and non-judgmental.   I think this book would be great for any wife going through a changing period in her marriage but would really be a great book for any wife to read.

Review of Undaunted

Undaunted: Daring to Do What God Calls You to Do
Undaunted: Daring To Do What God Calls You To Do is written by Christine Caine.

What a powerful and moving book!  I could not put this book down!  I had to keep reading to see how this strong woman’s story would turn out.

I liked the writing in this book.  The book flowed well and it kept you wanting to read more.  This is not just a book to sit and enjoy but it also has some very good messages in it.  Learning to trust the Lord and learning who you are in Christ are two lessons that will change your life if learned.

I gave this book 5/5 stars for a few reasons.  The first is the openness of the author.  She is not afraid to tell you what you need to hear.  Second are the stories of her life.  These are very moving and will impact your life.  Lastly in this world of fake reality this book shines a light on what should be real and important to all Christians.
