Review of Traces of Mercy

Traces of Mercy by Michael Landon Jr.
I read this book in one sitting as it held my attention from the first page!  I love books like this and enjoy giving them 5/5 stars!  I liked the setting and how it was described.  Not overly written like some historical novels are but very simple language that describes just enough without getting bogged down in the details.  The story itself was entertaining and I really enjoy it!  I thought the characters were likeable and you want them to succeed.  I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a fast paced Christian Historical Novel to read.  I highly recommend this story and author (I can’t wait to read more books by him!).

Review of There's A Green Plastic Monkey In My Purse

There's a Green Plastic Monkey in My Purse by Jessie Clemence
This book kept my attention!  The author uses humor to help show Mothers that they are not alone in their daily struggles.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked how easy the book was to read.  I found the stories to be entertaining as well as full of encouragement.  I would recommend the book to any mother or grandmother.  I would also say it would be a great gift to give a friend who is a mother.  If you are struggling or know another mother going through a rough week or month, this book would be perfect to read!

Review of The Good Fight

The Good Fight: How Conflict Can Bring You Closer

Every married or soon to be married couple should read this book.  It has some great ideas on how to fight right with your significant other.  Since we all have disagreements everyone can learn something.  I would say that after reading this book you will notice that your arguments will be different, in a good way!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book for a married couples Sunday School class, as a Bible study book or just for our own personal devotions.  It is a great book to read with your spouse!

Review of The Sweet Side of Suffering

The Sweet Side of Suffering by M Esther Lovejoy
I have nothing but positive things to say about this book.  It is such an encouragement to read how another Christian has worked through suffering of some kind and come out praising the Lord.  I gave this book 5/5 stars and was happy to do so!  I would recommend this book to anyone going through a difficult day.  We all deal with different issues.  This book reminds us look to the Lord for our comfort as he knows what we are going through because he allowed it.  The author also reminds us this is our temporary home so any suffering will not last forever!  This book was a pleasure to read and I have no problem recommending it to everyone!

Review of Sinners and the Sea

The Sinners and the Sea by Rebecca Kanner

Using her imagination the author of this book tells a story about what life might have been like for Noah’s wife.  I found the writing to be well done and the characters well developed.  I thought the historical aspect of the story was well written and interesting.  I did not however really enjoy the story and therefore gave this book 4/5 stars.  Overall the book was just not to my liking as some of it seemed too fanciful.  I would recommend this book to anyone who doesn’t mind when someone writes their own thoughts on how they think a Biblical account might have happened.

Review of Praying the Prayers of the Bible

Praying the Prayers of the Bible by James Banks
This is a very helpful book with easy to read and say prayers.  I will be keeping this book handy as it covers a lot of areas with simple prayers to follow.  This book would be helpful for a new Christian as it shows Biblical examples to follow.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fresher prayer life or someone who is looking for a book about prayers in the Bible.

Review of One Question

One Question: Life-Changing Answers from Today's Leading Voices
This book has questions broken down into small chapters. Questions are asked to known figures of our society and their answers were written here.  I gave this book5/5 stars.  I liked the format of the book and how easy it was to read!  I thought most of the questions were thought provoking and the answers held my attention.  I would recommend this book to just about anyone.  With the different topics addressed here everyone can find at least one section that interests them.  I found the whole book enjoyable and would definitely read it again!

Review of Not By Sight

Not by Sight by Kathy Herman
This was such an exciting book, it kept me guessing till the end!  I love intrigue and suspense and this book has them both!  I read the whole book in a couple days even though it is pretty hefty book.  Don’t let the size scare you away the well written story will carry you from page to page!  I liked the characters as they were written like real people, not just people to fill the pages.  This author, Kathy Herman, is one to read and you might as well start with this exciting book!

Review of Charles Stanley's Book Man of God

Man of God: Leading Your Family by Allowing God to Lead You
Do you know a man trying to live the Christian life?  If so this book would be a great gift as it has wonderful advice and guidance throughout its pages.  I would recommend this book to all men to read and therefore gave it a 5/5 stars.  The author, Charles Stanley, is a well know preacher.  You do not have to like his preaching or even to have heard it to enjoy this book!  The pages are easy to read, the chapters flow from one topic to the next and the Lord is honored as the ultimate example for any man to be more like.  Overall this is an excellent book!

Review of It Happened at the Fair

It Happened at the Fair by Deeanne Gist
I enjoyed this book!  I liked the setting of the Chicago’s World’s Fair.  You could picture it so well with the excellent descriptions from this author.  I thought the two main characters were well developed and you could see them growing throughout the story.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this brilliant author, Deeanne Gist.  I would also recommend this book to anyone who likes Christian historical fiction with a touch of romance.  I could not put this down until I found out how the story ended!  I would gladly read this book again.

Review of Intentional Walk

Intentional Walk by Rob Rains

This is a great book for any sports fan who is a Christian.  I liked the viewpoint of the book.  I found it interesting to read about the Cardinals baseball team and their winning history.  Seeing this history from a Christian point of view was entertaining as well as uplifting!  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book to any fans of baseball or sports.  I would also recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading stories of the different ways the Lord blesses people who do their best to live for him.

Review of Honored to Serve

Honored to Serve by Tony Monetti
I am so glad I get to post a review for this book!  This book will be such an encouragement to any military family that I hope you will send it to them right away!  The authors, a military family as well, share experiences and offer advice all based on the Bible.  I thought it was well written, easy to understand and always directing the reader to the Lord for direction.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book to any Christian military family no matter if you have served 1 or 20 years!

Review of The God Who Walks Beside Us

The God Who Walks Beside Us by David Roper
This book will remind you just how close the Lord is to you every moment of every day.  The author, David Roper, is excellent and if you have not read any of his writings this one would be a great one to start with.  If you have read him before you already know his writing is practical and easy to understand.  This book is no exception and that is why I gave it 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book to anyone needing a refresher on how accessible the Lord is to every Christian.

Review of Fear Has A Name

Fear Has a Name by Creston Mapes
This is a well written Christian suspense novel.  You don’t see that very often do you!  It really was a good book that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend the book to any Christian who likes suspense and still has the Christian message prominent in the story line.  The characters were enjoyable, which came as a surprise to me.  A lot of Christian suspense novels have one character that is just so annoying because they act with no common sense.  I did not find that in this story at all.  This is a book I would recommend and would gladly read again!

Review of Discovering the City of Sodom

Discovering the City of Sodom by Steven Collins
This book took me a bit to get through as it has scientific information as well as Biblical.  I also found it a bit long.  Those two negatives said, I still really enjoyed the book!  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the book was well represented by the description of its contents.  The information in the book was never tedious even if it was hard to understand sometimes.  I liked how he kept referring back to the Bible as he was explaining what and how he found certain areas.  I would recommend this book for any lover of Biblical history and archaeology.

Review of Creation Sings His Praise

Creation Sings His Praise by Dave Branon
This book is a compilation of 90 devotionals all centered on God’s creation.  If you like nature, outside, animals and plants you will enjoy these devotionals.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked that these devotions were all about nature and therefore easy to read from one to the next.  Putting them all together in one book was a great idea.  I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new devotional book.  It would also be a great gift for any nature lover!

Review of Cold Case Christianity

Cold-Case Christianity by J. Warner Wallace

I know this book has gotten very good reviews.  I was not so sure when I first started reading it if I would like it or not as the subject seemed to be a heavy one.  There were parts where I really had to concentrate on what was being said which made it hard to enjoy reading.  Even though I was bored at times, that was just a personal issue!  The book itself has wonderful information and is well written.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book to anyone interested in studying the Gospels.  If , however, you do not like deep books that will make you think, then you should skip the book!

Review of Chocolate Covered Baloney

Chocolate-Covered Baloney by K.D. McCrite
This was just an OK book for me.  I have not read many books like this but wanted to give it a chance.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked the characters in the story.  For having a young girl be the main focus of the story her personality really came through.  The minor characters were also written well and you could feel their emotions with just the words on the pages.  I did not enjoy the many arguments and what I felt like were disrespectful comments.  You can write an argument or discussion without a lot of words and still get the idea of the fight across.  I would recommend this book to the early high school age group.

Review of A Bride For All Seasons

A Bride for All Seasons: The Mail Order Bride Collection
What an excellent book!  I enjoyed the whole thing!  It took me a couple days to read this one as there are multiple stories in it.  I enjoyed each story as it was told by a different author about a different woman.   I liked the time period, settings and characters.  I liked how each couple as issues they have to overcome in order to fall in love.  Sometimes you read a historical romance and there really isn’t that great struggle that keeps them apart until the end.  Well each of these stories has just enough drama and romance to keep you entertained and reading to find out what happens next.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian historical romances.

Review of Authentic

Authentic by James MacDonald
Do you sometimes feel like you are faking your nearness with the Lord because those around you seem to have a close one with Him?  Maybe you are just looking for a book that highlights the Lord and how He relates to you in your times of need.  If you are looking for a book about how to be real in your relationship to the Lord, then this book is for you.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked how the author shows that the Lord does not want the fakeness but wants the real us all the time.  He made us and knows us and still wants us as we are.  I would recommend this to anyone looking for a book about not being fake when it comes to our relationship with the Lord.

Review of Activating the Power of the Cross

Activating the Power of the Cross by Tony Evans
This is another awesome book by Tony Evans.  I have enjoyed reading books by this great author and preacher multiple times.  This particular book is about how to draw on the power of the Lord and not rely on yourself as much.    I liked how the chapters flowed from one s to another.  I also liked that it was a short book and therefore a great book for a week of devotions.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend the book to anyone needing to grow their faith in the power of the Lord.  I would also recommend this book to anyone needing encouragement while feeling defeated over some negative event occurring in their lives right now.

Review of Fifteen Minutes by Karen Kingsbury

Fifteen Minutes by Karen Kingsbury

Another great book by famous author Karen Kingsbury!  This story moves along quickly and definitely held my attention throughout.  I liked that it was modern and the characters had depth.  I have not always liked her books.  In fact I have found some of them too dramatic and not very real to life.  This book, however, was very good.  I thought she showed the positive and negative of being famous and how it changes you and everyone around you.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend the story to anyone looking for a quick and entertaining read!

Review of 7-Minute Marriage Solution

7-Minute Marriage Solution, The by Stephen Arterburn

I am not sure why this book has not gotten more attention!  It is easy to read and understand.  It is also filled with very practical advice that can quickly change your marriage.  If you take the time to read and then implement some of the ideas put forth in this book your marriage can only get better.  I gave this book 5/5 stars but if I could give it more I would!  I would recommend this book to every married couple whether newlyweds or seasoned partners!  I loved this book and will be keeping it on my shelf and buying other copies for friends.  Spread the word, this book is awesome!
