Review of The Passion Principles

The Passion Principles by Shannon Ethridge

This is a must read for all married couples!  Don’t let the subject matter scare you away.  This book is well written, easy to follow, informative and has a Christian point of view.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked how the book was laid out, very organized.  I also liked that the author made the subject matter factual yet with a loving attitude.  I would recommend this book for all couples, maybe a Sunday School class or even a Bible study book to read through.

The Smart Woman's Guide to Planning for Retirement by Mary Hunt
Just Get This Book!!  There is so much information in the pages and yet you will not get bored.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked the idea of the book and thought the author did an excellent job of showing the steps to take to be comfortable when you retire.  This is not a boring or monotonous book!  I found the author’s writing style to be entertaining and informative.  I would recommend this book to all women, no matter the age!

Review of Power Thoughs Devotional

Power Thoughts Devotional by Joyce Meyer

This is a great devotional!  Very easy to read and well put together.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I liked that the devotionals were thought provoking yet easy to read.  They all point you to the Lord and how He says to handle situations and people in your life.  I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the author as a speaker or writer.  I would also recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new devotional to start.

Review of Childrens Book Cupcake Cousins

Cupcake Cousins by Kate Hannigan

This book was written for the upper elementary crowd.  I think it can still be enjoyed by a first grader but would say it is more for the 3rd or 4th grade crowd.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I thought the story was entertaining and would keep any child interested.  I liked that the characters learned a few lessons in the story but the lessons weren’t so in your face that you couldn’t just enjoy the story for being a story.  I liked the simple conversations and would definitely recommend this book!

Review of Made To Last

Made to Last by Melissa Tagg

I really enjoyed this modern Christian love story.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  You read so many books set in different time periods so to read one set in the here and now was fun.  The characters were very real to life and could easily be people you watch every day.  I liked the interactions as the conversations were amusing and intelligent.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a clean Christian fiction story.  I would also recommend this to anyone who enjoys reality television.

Review of Take Charge of Your Emotions

Take Charge of Your Emotions by Linda Solie

Only read this book if you are really interested in working on how you handle your emotions.  If you are not into it this book will read like a text book and not be interesting at all.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I thought the idea of the book was great and really feel like the author did a great job of laying out a plan of action for the reader.  I did find parts of it to be too technical and not as practical as others.  I think the book could have been shorter and more to the point but overall it will be helpful to those needing guidance.

Review of Stepping Into Consciousness

Stepping Into Consciousness by Nicky Rolland

This is not the best self help book I have read but it does have some valid points.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I liked that the author was up front about her goal in writing the book and really seemed to want to help people.  At times the information felt like it was just repeating over and over.  Other times though there were some easy steps to follow and helpful advice.  I would recommend this book for someone looking to better their awareness of themselves and how they treat and are treated by others.

Review of Unforseeable

Unforeseeable by Nancy Mehl
This book was just as good a mystery as any on the top 10 sellers list!  It is book three in a series but I don’t feel like you need to read the others to enjoy the suspense in this one.  I liked that the main characters had depth to them and really thought before they spoke. The interaction of the townspeople is very well written.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  I would recommend the book to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction, suspense stories, and even Amish fiction.

Review of Bride Wanted

Bride Wanted by Renee Andrews

This book reminded me of a Hallmark channel movie!  I loved it and read it in one sitting.  I gave this book 5/5 stars.  The story itself is pretty typical of two people misunderstanding each other and getting wires crossed.  This of course leads to some great reading.  It also leads them to eventually find each other.  The element of the main male character being the one writing letters to his future wife was especially enjoyed.  Most of the time you get the girl doing the writing so I enjoyed that this author did a twist on that story line.  I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys quick, clean and entertaining love stories!

Review of Who You Callin' Silly?

Who You Callin' Silly? How a Silly Woman Becomes Virtuous by Kimberly R. Lock

Overall this book has some helpful tips for women who want to live their life based on Biblical principles.  I gave this book 4/5 stars.  I gave a little lower rating because at times the book was too preachy.  It was definitely written for the Christian woman but could have easily been applicable to more had some of the “in your face” religious talk been omitted from the pages.  All that said from a Christian point of view the book flows right along with the Biblical principles found in the Bible.  The author is organized in her writing and you will not be bored.  I would recommend this book for someone who is looking to jumpstart their spiritual life and needs some direction.
