Wise Parenting: Guidelines from the Book of Proverbs, written by the trio of authors Paul Wegner, Catherine Wegner and Kimberlee Herman, is not just another parenting book. Using the book of Proverbs they present guidelines for disciplining our children. I know that not everyone is going to agree with everything that is written in this book. However, the authors do not write in a condescending manner and you will walk away from the book feeling like a friend has given you some parenting advice to consider.
Taking the entire book of Proverbs the authors show you can learn how to discipline in a loving and teachable manner. There are steps to take when a child disobeys. Making sure they understand what they have done wrong is essential. You have to remember that parenting is not just one day a year but every day until they leave your home and start their own.
The best way to teach your children is to model the desired behavior yourself. Our children are with us all the time and observe everything we do, from what we are eating to what language we use. Being sure to live the way we expect them to will help when we have to discipline their disobedience. The most important thing to remember is always express your unconditional love. All children need to know how much they are loved even if you are not pleased with their behavior.
I liked the honest and kind manner this book was written in. I thought the questions posed at the end of each section were well thought out and helpful. Overall it is a great parenting book.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
