I really enjoyed this book set on the Titanic

By The Light Of The Silvery Moon, written by Tricia Goyer, is a story set on the majestic ship, the Titanic.

Amelia Gladstone is ready for a quiet trip across the ocean on a newly built ocean liner. She is expecting to land in America and meet a young man she has been exchanging letters with for months. When she finds herself with an extra ticket she gives it to a man she helps on the loading docs. This chance encounter changes her life and the life of many others.

Quentin Walpole has spent the last few years leading a very hard life and is looking for a new start. He accepts the free ticket in hopes that he can start over back in his home country, America. The voyage across the ocean is not as calm as he had hoped but the results are forgiveness and a new love.

The story takes place on the fated ocean liner the Titanic. The majority of the story takes place before the horrible crash into the iceberg. The plot is well written and moves along quickly. The message of forgiveness is found throughout the story and is an intricate part of it. I like how the characters developed and their personalities were believable. The descriptions of the different locations on the Titanic were given in great detail. The moments during and after the hitting of the iceberg were written so well you would think it was a first hand account.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the interaction of the main characters. I liked the romance and how it developed. I especially liked how all the story lines were wrapped up in the end. I can not say a negative thing about this book. If I could give it more then 5/5 stars I would! Read it and I know you will enjoy it too!

A perfect gift for any woman age 18-80!

More Beauty Less Beast is a must read! Filled with helpful advice it is a perfect gift for any woman from 18 to 80! The author, Debora Coty, writes in a very open and fun manner.

You will learn so much from reading this helpful book. The pages are filled with interesting topics like friendship between women, forgiving others, remembering to not judge the outward appearance of another and even taking the time to know yourself better.

Each topic discussed is related to learning how to accept who you are in Christ instead of comparing yourself to others. As we concentrate on Christ and put Him first, our priorities come in line with what He wants us to be.

I read through this book in one evening, as I could not wait to get to the next chapter and learn more. The authors’ sense of humor really makes this book fun to read. You will relate to many of her stories and examples. Reading this book will help you grow closer to the Lord!

A great book for Christian teenage girls to read

Addison Blakely: Confessions of a PK is written by Betsy St. Amant. This book is excellent and I will be sure to pick up and read any book written by her!

The story is about a sixteen-year-old girl who is a pastor’s daughter. Addison Blakely is not sure where she fits in or if she likes being a PK, preacher’s kid. When motorcycle riding Wes Keegan shows up in town it only makes her more confused about what she really wants in life. Will she follow the beliefs she has been taught her whole life or will she step away and try her own ideas?

This is a wonderful book for all Christian teenage girls to read. They will relate to the main character and maybe even learn a few things while enjoying the story. Feeling like others understand what you are going through can be a real encouragement. I will put out a warning that there are some subjects touched upon that parents need to be ready to talk to their daughter about. Subjects like teen drinking, keeping pure, and peer pressure are all addressed. Overall it is a good book and I enjoyed not only the presentation of the characters but also the excellent writing.

An interesting setting makes for an interesting story

The Key on the Quilt, written by Stephanie Grace Whitson, takes place in Nebraska in the late 1800’s. The setting is a woman’s prison and the main character is a murderer. Or is she?

Jane is serving her time after being accused of murdering her abusive husband. Her sister has taken over the care of her daughter Rose. Rose is led to believe that her mother has died but the memories of her mother and the time of the murder haunt her dreams. Meanwhile Jane sits in the prison counting the days till she will be free again.

Dr. Max Zimmer desperately wants to help Jane but she has asked him to stop, as she does not feel there is any hope. Even though Jane asks him not to, he tries to help Jane by talking to the prison warden. The warden and his wife, Ellen and Ian McKenna, play an important role in the story.

There are a few story lines in this book. Each one compliments the other. The characters all have depth and the stories themselves move along quickly. I liked the action, emotion and plot and felt the book flowed well. The author also did very well at describing the setting and time period. Overall it was a very well written and enjoyable novel.

A book set in the Mennonite community

Something New, written by Dianne Christner, is book two in The Plain City Bridesmaids series. You do not have to read the others in the series to enjoy this book.

Lil Landis does not like living on the family farm. She would rather be a successful head chef. Her family needs her help as they go through some difficult times but helping them is hindering her ability to follow her dream.

When Lil literally runs into Fletch Stauffer she does not realize how much that encounter will change her life. Fletch is not happy with his current job and has dreams of his own. Will they fall in love and follow their dreams or take different paths that will tear them apart?

The story is set in a Mennonite community in the state of Ohio. The setting plays an important part in the story and the story itself would not have worked unless set there. You can’t really call this a romance or an adventure story. It is really just a story of two young people and how their lives change after meeting. The romance between them is there but is not the predominate story line. Overall this is a good book but not one I would read again.

This book is a guide to understanding who Satan is and how he can interrupt our walk with the Lord.

Living Free in Enemy Territory: Christ's Triumph over Satan is an excellent title for this book written by Greg Dutcher. As the title implies this book is a guide to understanding who Satan is and how he can interrupt our walk with the Lord.

Using lots of scripture the author shows you how to center on the truths of Christ and not the lies of Satan. You will get a better understanding of who Satan is and the lies he tries to get us to believe. The best section of the book shows you how Satan takes things away from us even though he acts like he is giving us something. You are tempted to want to do something that seems so great and then once you do you lose some of your relationship with Christ. You lose instead of gaining. The author does at good job at explaining this principle and the many others presented here.

The questions at the end of the chapters were meaningful and not just thrown in as an afterthought. You look up verse that pertains to certain subjects. I loved all the scripture references! Many books are filled with just personal experiences but this author used mostly references or stories from the Bible.

Overall the book is good at helping you learn about Satan and how your attention needs to be centered on Christ. The book flows well, is easy to understand and written in a very straightforward style.

You will feel the Lord's love as you read and learn from this book

Embraced by God: Celebrating Who and Whose You Are, written by Babbie Mason, is the perfect book for any woman wanting to have a closer relationship with the Lord.

The book walks you through 21 days of learning about the Lord and how much He loves you. The author suggests finding a spot where you can be alone and feel comfortable singing or praying out loud. It is not necessary but it will help you speak out loud some of the promises and therefore better write them on your heart.

There were so many wonderful lessons to take away from this book. One of my favorites was learning to openly talk to the Lord. As the author puts it, He knows you better then anyone, even your closest family and best friends. Make sure you tell Him everything that is on your heart. He is the perfect One to tell as He loves you so much and wants to help guide you through any trial.

The Lord has a purpose for you and wants you to accept who you are in Him so He can guide your steps. The author not only teaches this lesson but also provides personal examples to help you better understand how the Lord works in our lives. We do have to be open to the Lord’s love or we can not grow closer to Him.

I found this book to be written in an open and loving style. If you or someone you know is a woman hurting and needing the love of the Lord, this book is perfect. You will feel His love from the many verses shared and more importantly, learn how to accept His love. An excellent book and a must read for all woman!
